Like so many Hollywood productions, this film had its share of re-makes from producers too fearful to try something new. It has all the power of Laemmle without the fru-fru of Hollywood's later offerings. Elsa Lanchester and her husband Charles Laughton were dear family friends and visitors to our home. Universal Studios kept her name a secret...she's billed as "?" in the opening credits. She was considered one of the great film beauties of her time.
